From chat to coffee
Many matches never become more than a pleasant chat. That is fine, but if you want to meet, it helps to take the step while the conversation is good.
- 1
Do not wait too long. After a few days of good conversation, suggesting a meeting is perfectly natural.
- 2
Keep it simple. “Coffee on Saturday?” beats “we should do something sometime”.
- 3
Short and low-pressure first. An hour over coffee is easier to say yes to than a three-course dinner.
- 4
Read the reply. “Yes, but not this weekend – how about next?” is a yes. “Maybe sometime” three times in a row is an answer, too.
- 5
Take it in your stride. If they say no, it just was not the right match. Next.
