What facedate is

facedate is an independent information service that rates the documented safety and privacy records of dating services.

facedate is not a dating service. You cannot create an account, and we do not ask for a profile, photos or any information about your dating life.

What we collect

1. Visit statistics. We use Plausible Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It counts visits, pages viewed, referring websites, country, device type and clicks on outbound links, all in aggregated form. We cannot identify you from these statistics.

2. Messages you send us. If you contact us by email or through a contact form, we receive your name (if given), your email address and your message. We use this only to answer you and, for correction requests, to review the information on our site.

3. Technical logs. Our hosting provider may process IP addresses in short-term server logs to keep the site secure and working. These logs are not used to identify or profile visitors.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data. We do not build profiles of visitors. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not share information with the dating services we rate.

Legal basis

We process messages and technical logs based on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, correcting our content and keeping the site secure (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Aggregated statistics do not involve personal data.

How long we keep data

Messages: up to 12 months after the matter is closed, unless we must keep them longer to document a correction or a legal claim. Technical logs: according to our hosting provider's standard retention, normally a few weeks.

Who processes data for us

Our hosting provider and email provider process data on our behalf under data processing agreements. If data is processed outside the EU/EEA, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data, and you can object to our processing. Write to privacy@facedate.com. We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet), www.datatilsynet.no.

Links to other websites

facedate links to the official websites of dating services. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data. Read their policies before you sign up.
